Estelle C. (Chartier) Routhier, 95, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully at home on May 11th with her loving family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Gerard "Rusty" Routhier for 65 years. Born in Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Vitalien and Georgianna (Allard) Chartier.
Estelle, or “Memere”, was a homemaker devoted to raising her family. She was always happy to have company and you could always pop in any time to visit and have a cup of coffee and maybe a game of cribbage. She was easy to make laugh, known for her wonderful Thanksgiving dinners and her famous meat pies. She also enjoyed playing scrabble and cribbage with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all her family, and according to her daughter-in-law she was the best mother-in-law a girl could have.
She is survived by a daughter, Claudette King; a brother, Charles Chartier; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Ronald Routhier and Richard Routhier; and ten siblings, Jeannette (Hamel) Labbe, Maurice Chartier, Rita Gouin, Theresa Korkuc, Gerard Chartier, Joseph Chartier, Alma Magnan, Raymond Chartier, Madeleine Charette and Lucille Labbe.
Her funeral will begin on Saturday, May 20th at 8:30am from Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Vianney Church, 3587 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland, at 10:00am. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. Relatives and friends are invited.
